Dég Winery

  /    /    /  Dég Winery

A small bespoke family-run winery located on a slope, an area characterized by strong dimensional and altimetric constraints. The project brief focused on immersing visitors in the wine experience whilst providing a clear connection with the surrounding landscape, vines, and wine production facilities.

The structure is characterized by two partly underground areas. On the ground floor the area is intended for winemaking, while the other was meant for welcoming visitors and tasting products. The basement houses the engine room, the barrel room, the exhibition and conservation room, and the storage.

The result is a broken outline facade that perfectly lays on the beautiful landscape. The principal material is the Beechwood used both for the exterior spaces and the interiors. The two big glass openings permit natural light to flow through the space and give a strong visual connection with the landscape. The roof is modeled as a series of multifaceted surfaces similar to soil modeling. A view from the roof, observing the entire area including the vineyards also allows the visitors to inhabit the feeling of being connected to the nature that surrounds them.
